Private Security Officer Seminole State

Become a security guard in as little as five days with Seminole State College's Private Security Officer Vocational Certificate.

Students who finish this 40-hour program will receive a certificate that enables them to apply for a Class D security officer license.

Career Opportunities

Private security officers work for security firms that offer protection of clients' assets, property, personnel, etc.

The Florida Research and Economic Information Database Application projects a 20.1 percent increase in the private security officer field between 2013 and 2020.

The state's licensing process includes additional components, including fingerprinting and a background check.

How to Apply

To be considered for the Private Security Officer Vocational Certificate Program, students must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Apply to Seminole State online, or print the application and bring it to Student Services on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus.
  • Meet with Career Program Advisor Amanda Taylor, or contact her at 407.708.2596.

A high school diploma or equivalency is not required for program entry.

Costs

The program costs approximately $114. Federal financial aid is not available. However, Seminole State does offer fee waivers and scholarships for qualified students. Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to qualify.
