This certificate program is designed to prepare students for employment as a Home Attendance Aide or Home Health Aide. Instruction is provided in supportive services that are required to provide and maintain bodily and emotional comfort and to assist the patient toward independent living in a safe environment as stated in the Rules of the Department of Health â Minimum Standards for Home Health Agencies. This program meets the Department of Health HIV/AIDS Domestic Violence and Prevention of Medical Errors requirements. Upon completion of the program, the instructor will provide a certificate to the student verifying that these requirements have been met. Upon successful completion of the program, students may take a voluntary national certification exam offered by the National Association for Home Care.
Federal financial aid (FAFSA) cannot be used for this program. Seminole State College offers fee waivers to assist students with tuition costs. Students must complete the FAFSA and have the results sent to Seminole State prior to applying for a fee waiver. Please contact the Career Program Advisor for Nursing for a fee waiver and other scholarship opportunities.
This program is a planned sequence of instruction consisting of two occupational completion points (OCPâs) and a total program length of 165 hours.

This introductory course provides an overview of the health professions and the healthcare delivery system. Topics include disease prevention and wellness promotion, guidelines for legal, ethical and moral practice and communication skills. Students will be introduced to the use of computers in healthcare including diagnostic and monitoring capabilities. Lab fee required.
