Accreditation for Distance Learning Courses

Please take a moment to review the "Principles of Good Practice" published electronically by the Southern Regional Electronic Campus (SREC) and developed by the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB). All distance learning courses at Seminole State should follow these guidelines.

In addition, all distance learning courses must undergo an internal Quality Matters (QM) course review. Seminole State became a subscriber to the QM organization in 2008 and is using the QM rubric to review all of its distance learning courses. This comprehensive review process ensures that Seminole State meets all of the documentation and quality standards for distance learning courses required to maintain college accreditation.

The completion of a successful QM course review is a new requirement for all courses offered online at Seminole State. Faculty members who teach online courses are also required to complete the "Applying the QM Rubric" workshop and the Sakai workshop for Seminole State's course management system.
 
Seminole State's eLearning Department is responsible for offering QM workshops, coordinating the faculty peer review teams and scheduling distance learning courses for review. For more information on Quality Matters workshops or to register for a workshop, please visit our online workshop calendar.
