What is an Official Statement of Status of Eligibility?

When you send a completed application package (CG-10) to the Florida Department of Education requesting a teacher certificate, your package is evaluated to determine your eligibility for a Florida certificate. The determination is mailed to you as an Official Statement of Status of Eligibility. The official statement is valid for three years. It provides you with a customized list of the requirements you must meet to be issued full state certification (a five-year professional teaching certificate) in Florida.

When Do I Apply?

Upon receipt of your Statement of Status of Eligibility, make an appointment to visit the EPI Director, located on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus (F-110), by calling 407.708.2082. Bring your SCC application and your Statement of Status of Eligibility to the appointment.

On Which SCC Campus Will the Program Be Offered?

  • All classes are held on the Heathrow Campus.
  • All program workshops for the electronic portfolio, as well as the General Knowledge Exams, are held on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus.

Note: All students are required to attend at least one portfolio workshop before program completion.

How Long is the EPI Program?

The EPI Program lasts for 10 months, with classes meeting during the week and on weekends.
