Distance Learning Welcome Information
The Distance Learning Department provides introductory information for all students enrolled in DL courses. Click the links below to download or view information in your preferred file format.
Getting Started
- Step one: Find out if there are any required on-campus meetings for your class. Some (but not all) of our distance learning courses have mandatory on-campus orientations and/or proctored testing for midterms and finals. Many instructors will drop you from their class if you fail to attend the mandatory orientation. To locate orientation and exam information, use the "Class Details" link on MySeminoleState, or select your class from the Distance Learning online course listing.
- Step two: See if there is an instructor letter for your class. Some instructors provide a welcome letter for individual sections of their courses. To find out if your instructor has posted a letter, visit the Distance Learning course search page and locate your class by name, course number or instructor. You will see a "Welcome Letter" link next to your course if your instructor has provided one. If your instructor has not provided a letter, you should contact him or her directly with questions about the course. Please be advised that not all instructors post a welcome letter for each class or term. Pay close attention to the class number listed next to each welcome letter and syllabus. If it does not match your class number for the term, the information provided may not apply to you.
- Step three: Log into ANGEL. If your class uses the ANGEL online learning system, be sure to log in as soon as the term begins. (You cannot access your course prior to the term start date.) Many instructors will drop students from their class if they fail to log into ANGEL by the end of the add/drop period. For more information on logging into ANGEL, visit the ANGEL Help page. If you have trouble logging in after classes begin, please contact the Distance Learning Office.
