As a valued Seminole State College employee, the following resources are available to assist you with workplace challenges.

Employee Relations Office

If you are faced with a work-related issue, you are first encouraged to consult with your supervisor to discuss and implement a solution. If after meeting with your supervisor the issue remains unresolved, Seminole State's employee relations representatives can help you determine which resources and services are best suited to guide you toward achieving a positive resolution.

All College employees may utilize the Employee Relations Office's services, which include listening, counseling, advising and referrals to outside agencies for additional assistance or support. An employee relations representative will meet with you at any Seminole State location.

Seminole State's trained employee relations representatives can assist faculty and staff members with:
  • Work-related challenges that are related to attendance, working conditions, assignments, job performance or disciplinary matters.
  • Communication difficulties and conflict resolution.
  • Clarification of College policies and procedures.
  • Training opportunities.
  • Support through the Employee Assistance Plan.
Equity Office

Following your meeting with an Seminole State employee relations representative, you may be referred to the Equity Office to further explore and address your concerns. The equity coordinator is trained to analyze and respond to discriminatory practices and procedures, as they relate to age (over 40), disability (visible or invisible), ethnicity, gender (including sexual harassment), race, religion, sexual orientation and veteran status (not applicable for faculty). Current College employees, those seeking employment at Seminole State, students and College visitors may utilize the services provided by the Equity Office and are encouraged to report discriminatory acts or harassment. Appointments with the equity coordinator can be scheduled to take place at any Seminole State location before, during or after regular work hours.

The equity coordinator can assist you by:
  • Providing information, training and resources on gender treatment, the prevention of discrimination, equal opportunity and disability matters and veterans' policies.
  • Consulting with employees and students on matters concerning equal access/opportunity.
  • Investigating complaints of harassment and discrimination.
Ombudsman's Office

If you find that your concerns have not been resolved to your satisfaction after meeting with the employee relations representative or equity coordinator, you may seek assistance from Seminole State's ombudsman.

Employees can seek the following assistance from the ombudsman:
  • Advice for alternative courses of action and issue resolution
  • Mediation
  • Recommendations for changes in policies, procedures or processes
