Did you know...Seminole Junior College was founded on July 1, 1965. The name was changed to Seminole State College of Florida on Sept. 21, 2009. |
AlliesAs Seminole State College continues to make its mark as a diverse learning community that values, appreciates and celebrates all dimensions of diversity, the opportunity has presented itself for us to implement an Ally Program. An Ally is any individual who willingly serves as an advocate for oppressed populations. Over the last few years, an increased number of Ally Programs have been implemented on college and university campuses to provide support for the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered) student and employee community. What an Ally is:
An Ally is not expected to act as a counselor, nor is he or she expected to have all the answers. Rather, an Ally just serves as a friend and advocate willing to help and provide support for members of the LGBT population. There are many faculty and staff members at Seminole State who have volunteered as Allies. If you would like to locate or speak with an Ally, you may download a list of associated faculty and staff. |
