Accreditation helps the College maintain high academic standards, foster public confidence in the academic value, and makes Seminole State eligible for certain grants and federal aid programs. Without accreditation, Seminole State students would not be eligible for any federal financial aid awards, including: college work-study, Pell grants and most student loan programs. In 2010-11 Seminole State students were awarded more than $82 million in federal financial aid.
