Admission Requirements

Seminole State's Florida-approved training center for police officer certification has successfully prepared future law enforcement officers since 1969. Our success is due, in part, to our strict adherence to state requirements and regulations.

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Have no felony or misdemeanor convictions involving perjury, false statements or moral turpitude
  • Have been honorably discharged from military service (if applicable)
  • Have a valid Florida driver's license
To be admitted into Seminole State's Criminal Justice Program, you must complete following steps:
  • Step I: Meet Seminole State's Criminal Justice Institute Academy entrance requirements as listed.
  • Step II: Submit an Seminole State application for admission and complete the Criminal Justice Basic Abilities Test (CJ-BAT) with a passing score of 72 percent (Corrections) or 79 percent (Law Enforcement).
  • Step III: Return to the Criminal Justice Institute with a copy of your passing test scores and receive the Personal History Information, Medical History Questionnaire Packet and DMV Driving History Request forms.
    • The Personal History Information and Medical History Questionnaire must be notarized.
    • The Medical History Questionnaire must be completed by the examining physician. The cost of the physical examination will be at the applicant's expense, and the test results will be mailed to Seminole State's Criminal Justice Institute.
