Class Fees and Dates

This is a limited-access program. Students must complete the Seminole State and Criminal Justice Institute application process before gaining acceptance into the program.

To be eligible for in-state fees, applicants must be a resident of the state of Florida for at least 12 months prior to registration. Contact Seminole State's Admissions Office for details.

In addition to tuition, estimated costs include, but are not limited to:

  • Uniforms: $400* (law enforcement and corrections only)
  • Books: $55*

Law Enforcement Academy: Day Program

The day program is 18-20 weeks long (approximately 770 hours), Monday-Friday, from 7:45 a.m.-5 p.m.

Law Enforcement Academy: Night Program

The night program is 29-31 weeks long, Monday-Thursday, from 4:45-10 p.m., and Saturday, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Selection for these academies takes place six to eight weeks before the first day of the academy. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis for qualified recruits.

Approximate Fees
  • Applicant Process: $125* (an accumulation of costs; there is no application fee for this program)
  • Tuition/Lab Fee (In-state Residents): $2,360*
  • Tuition/Lab Fee (Out-of-state Residents): $7,650*
  • Books: $55*
  • Uniforms: $400*

* Fees are subject to change. Financial aid is accepted only for those students who qualify.

Corrections Academy

The corrections program lasts approximately 16 weeks, Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Times vary according to instructional guidelines.

Requirements

Students must:

  • Gain admission to Seminole State
  • Complete the Seminole State General Information Sheet
  • Provide a passport-sized photo
  • Have taken the CJ-BAT for Law Enforcement (must be current on first day of class, within the past two years)
  • Provide a copy of their FDLE Corrections Certificate
  • Provide an employment verification letter (if currently employed in corrections), or
  • Submit to a criminal background check (if not currently employed in corrections; cost is $54.25), and
  • Provide the Seminole State Records Office with official transcripts from a corrections training school
  • Minimum number of students required: 20

Requirements

Students must:

  • Gain admission to Seminole State
  • Have taken the CJ-BAT for Law Enforcement (must be current on first day of class, within the past two years)
  • Be at least 19 years old
  • Have a valid Florida driver license
  • Complete a physical and drug screen
  • Have a clean driving record for the past seven years
  • Submit to a criminal background check
  • Complete and pass an assessment evaluation process
