What is the FDLE Exam?

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Exam is a certification test controlled by the State of Florida. A state requirement for those who wish to become a criminal justice officer, the FDLE exam measures students' knowledge and competency in their chosen discipline.

There are several FDLE exams and each correlates to the basic recruit requirements for a specific officer type:

  • Law Enforcement Officer
  • Correctional Officer
  • Correctional Probation Officer

What is the Exam Content?

There are certain criteria you must meet before you can become an entry-level officer in a specific area. The certification exams measure your competency in your specific criminal justice specialization.

How Do I Take the FDLE Exam?

Contact the FDLE or visit its Web site to complete an exam application. Send the completed application and the $100 fee (check or money order) to FDLE before the application deadline date (Contact the FDLE for application deadlines.).
