A.S. Degree

Criminal Justice Technology A.S. Degree

An officer's primary responsibility is to protect lives and property. This is true for law enforcement, correctional and correctional probation officers.

It is important for officers to have experience in:

  • General law enforcement, correctional or correctional probation techniques and procedures.
  • Criminal investigations.
  • Community relations.
  • Emergency medical practices.
  • Legal issues.
  • Modern law enforcement technology.

Seminole State's Criminal Justice Technology A.S. Degree provides the knowledge, skills and experience you need to become a criminal justice officer. The A.S. degree program:

  • Provides basic recruit training for those entering the criminal justice fields.
  • Helps current criminal justice employees stay up to date with skills and technology.
  • Provides credits toward a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
  • Prepares students for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) exam. Students cannot be employed as a criminal justice officer in Florida unless they pass this exam.

Why Should I Take This Training Program at Seminole State?

Seminole State's Criminal Justice Academy is a state-certified training center and has been preparing students for careers in criminal justice since 1969. Our success is due to:

  • A thorough selection process.
  • Small class sizes, providing the opportunity for individualized training.
  • Instructors who teach traditional law enforcement with modern techniques and technology.
  • Adherence to Florida state requirements and regulations.

How Do I Earn a Criminal Justice Technology A.S. Degree?

To earn the degree, you must complete the curriculum. Earning the degree does not mean you can work as an officer in Florida. You must be certified by the state. To be certified, you must pass the FDLE Exam.

How Does Florida Determine Officer Standards and Requirements?

The FDLE determines officer responsibilities, as well as eligibility, certification and testing requirements.
