Program Manager and Adjunct Professor Gus BeckstromGus Beckstrom is a 33-year veteran law enforcement officer who was working with the Winter Park Police Department as a lieutenant when he retired in May 2000. Later, in August 2004, he retired again after a three-year stint as the chief of police in Oak Hill, Fla. Beckstrom is certified with the Florida Law Enforcement, Division of Standards and Training, to teach Constitutional and Criminal Law for Law Enforcement. He is also certified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to teach firearms and driving. In October 2004, Beckstrom became a full-time instructor and coordinator at Seminole State College. Prior to this, he had been an adjunct faculty member at Seminole State since September 1973 and Daytona Community College from 1991 through 1999. Since 1995, Beckstrom has been employed with Gould Publications as a consultant and writer of the "Florida Crimes, Motor Vehicles and Related Law with Criminal Jury Instructions Handbook" that is currently being used in the CMS curriculum law enforcement academies throughout the State of Florida. Beckstrom has a master's degree in criminal justice and is coordinating Seminole State's law enforcement advance training program, corrections officer academies and nighttime corrections-to-law-enforcement crossover academy. |
