Admission RequirementsSeminole State's Florida-approved training center for police officer certification has successfully prepared future law enforcement officers since 1969. Admission RequirementsTo be admitted into the Criminal Justice Program, applicants must complete following: STEP 1: Meet Seminole State College Criminal Justice Institute Academy eligibility requirements as listed above and attend an information session. STEP 2: Complete a Seminole State College application for admission and provide all necessary transcripts to the Records Department.
STEP 3: Complete the Criminal Justice Basic Abilities Test (CJBAT) and obtain the required passing score. Seminole State's Testing Office is located in room A-107. The cost for the CJBAT is $40.
The CJBAT is offered in the Assessment and Testing Center on each Seminole State Campus. For testing dates and times, please visit the testing hours website. STEP 4: Upon successful completion of the CJBAT and attendance of an information session, students may receive a Personal History Information and Medical History Questionnaire Packet, a DMV Driving History Request form and a Drug Test Chain of Command (C.O.C.) form. The Medical History Questionnaire must be completed by the student’s examining physician. The cost of the physical examination will be at the applicant's expense. STEP 5: All applicants must complete and pass a drug test screening process prior to acceptance into the Criminal Justice Institute.
Students must bring the Chain of Command (C.O.C) form provided in the academy application to the drug testing facility. The testing facility will fax/email the results to the Criminal Justice Institute at Seminole State. STEP 6: Submit to a background check. All applicants will be electronically fingerprinted, and all personal information obtained will be forwarded to FDLE and to the FBI for background verification. The cost of the Live Scan Electronic Fingerprint is $58.50. For location information, please contact the Criminal Justice Institute. STEP 7: Obtain a copy of your Florida Driving Record. The approximate cost is $10. For more information, visit www.flhsmv.gov/ddl/abstract.html. _____________________________________________________________________________ Upon completion of Steps 1-7, each applicant will bring their completed Personal History Information and Medical History Questionnaire Packet to the Criminal Justice Office in the Center for Public Safety on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus. Approximately 3-4 weeks before the start date, an appointment will be set for an interview with the director to determine acceptance into the Academy Program. Acceptance into the program is based on the date the application was submitted, the interview and the information provided in the application. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. |
