Advising Plans

Advising is an interactive process between a student and an academic advisor. At Seminole State, advisors and counselors teach students to navigate the academic environment and help them make sound decisions in pursuit of their education and career goals.

Students are encouraged to meet with an advisor or a counselor each term to discuss, clarify and refine their educational plans and objectives.

Counselors and educational advisors can assist students with:

  • Getting started at Seminole State
  • Navigating the college system
  • Placement test interpretation
  • Program requirements
  • Major selection
  • Prerequisite courses for a major
  • Educational plans
  • Graduation audits
  • Information about college support systems
  • College policies and procedures

Appointments

New Students

First-time-in-college (FTIC) and first-term transfer students are required to complete a group advising appointment. After completing Seminole State's online orientation, students will be asked to schedule a group appointment from within the orientation system.

Current Students

  • Non-registration periods: Current students can make appointments with counselors and advisors to complete an educational plan by calling 407.708.2337.
  • Registration periods: Students are seen on a first-come, first-served, walk-in basis.
eLearning Students

eLearning/online students can request that a representative contact them by scheduling an advising appointment through the College’s website. Students also can contact a eLearning specialist at 407.708.2800 or fill out a contact form to have a representative contact them.
