Advising Plans

Advising is an interactive process between a student and an academic advisor. At Seminole State, advisors and counselors teach students to navigate the academic environment and help them make sound decisions in pursuit of their education and career goals.

Students are encouraged to meet with an advisor or a counselor each term to discuss, clarify and refine their educational plans and objectives.

Counselors and educational advisors can assist students with:

  • Getting started at Seminole State
  • Navigating the college system
  • Transfer Information
  • Program requirements
  • Major selection
  • Prerequisite courses for a major
  • Educational plans
  • Graduation audits
  • College resources and support systems
  • College policies and procedures

New Students

First-time-in-college (FTIC) and first-term transfer students are required to complete an advising appointment. After completing Seminole State's online orientation, students will be asked to schedule an appointment from within the orientation system.
