This program prepares students for employment with young children from birth through age 8 in child care centers, preschools, Head Start and VPK Pre-K programs. This program is designed to provide online coursework and practical experience for teachers to meet the emotional, social, intellectual and physical needs of young children. Students will participate in an early childhood setting as part of the program practicum. This program meets the requirements of the National CDA as set by the Council of Early Childhood Professional Recognition in Washington, D.C.

Applicants must:

  • Contact the Child Development Office for Internet requirements.
  • ESOL students must complete an intermediate level prior to enrolling in the program.

Major Courses
HEV0860Online Vocational National CDA Core
This online course presents theory and methods of planning, implementing and evaluating activities relevant to children ages 0-5 years. Students will complete assignments in their child care setting and submit results online. Potential students must have submitted documentation of prior experience and current work or volunteer status as a child care provider in a child care setting to Seminole State's Early Childhood department to obtain permission to take this course. Students must also demonstrate ability to use a computer and the Internet.

This course provides an online study of the eight functional areas of early childhood education as they relate to children between the ages of 0-5. Online instruction will provide the student with a thorough understanding of children from 0-5 as it relates to child growth and development through developmentally appropriate practices in teaching in a family child care environment. Students will complete their professional resource file during the course and submit it online for review.

This course provides an online study of the eight functional areas of early childhood education as they relate to children between the ages of 3-5. Online instruction will provide the student with a thorough understanding of children from 3-5 as it relates to child growth and development through developmentally appropriate practices in teaching in a preschool setting. Students will complete their professional resource file during the course and submit it online for review.
