Student Government Association (SGA)

The Student Government Association (SGA) provides Seminole State students with a representative form of government, so, acting in unison, SGA may promote, regulate and coordinate activities that impact the entire community, and help the College create a learning environment that increases student success.

SGA meetings are held on the Altamonte Springs Campus on Thursdays at 12:30 p.m.; on the Heathrow Campus on Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m.; on the Oviedo Campus on Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m.; and in the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus Student Center (building C) on Mondays at 12:30 p.m. Meetings are open to all college credit and career programs students.

Student Roles in Campus Decision-Making

The participation of students in the College's decision-making process is an important institutional value. Informal participation occurs in many ways (program and instructor evaluations, needs analysis, discussions with administrators), but formal participation occurs through the SGA. During orientation sessions, college credit and career programs students receive information about the College's SGA and are asked to indicate their interest in participating as a member. Members are appointed as voting members for many campus committees where they can influence decisions on a variety of issues, from curriculum to the remodeling of College facilities. Students interested in SGA may contact the Student Life Office at 407.708.2678.
