This vocational certificate program is designed to provide students the fundamental aspects of air conditioning, refrigeration and heating. The program consists of classroom and lab study, as well as hands-on field training. Areas of study include the history of HVACR; safe working practices; HVACR tools; and the fundamentals of HVACR fluids, pressures, refrigerants, fabrication and codes.
Candidates must:
- Apply and be accepted at Seminole State College;
- Be at least 18 years of age;
- Pay required lab fee(s);
- Have official high school or GED transcripts on file at Seminole State or complete the Form 9, Level D TABE test or equivalent TABE test.
Only students who do not have official high school or GED transcripts on file at Seminole State must take the TABE test and score the following minimum scores to complete the program and receive their certificate:
- Reading: 570
- Language: 568
- Math: 579

Areas of study include wiring and troubleshooting electrical motors, identifying basic principles for air conditioning, refrigeration, heating and ventilation piping and sizing, as well as start-up and checkout procedures.  ACR0590C | HVACR Advanced Service Practices This course encompasses classroom and lab study of light commercial electricity and controls and light commercial air conditioning systems. The student will also gain knowledge of commercial refrigeration systems and understand load calculations for HVACR systems. Lab fee required. | 90 |
