MAT 1033 Section 44120 - Intermediate Algebra

This is an intermediate course in formal algebra for students without a strong background in algebra. Topics include sets, the real number system and number properties, absolute value, products and factoring, algebraic fractions, linear and quadratic equations and inequalities with applications, systems of equations, radicals, rational exponents, graphs and relations and functions (four elective credits).

Prerequisite: MAT 0024C or MAT 0020C or MAT 0028C or MAT 0022C with a grade of "C" or higher or sufficient score on placement test.

Mandatory Orientation and initial assessment must be completed by 5/10. E-mail instructor for the syllabus: lottb@seminolestate.edu. This class requires proctored testing which may be taken at any of the college testing centers at no additional charge. At the instructor's discretion, students may also have the option to use the Proctor-U online proctoring service for a fee of $25 per test, or arrange to test in person at another approved proctoring site (the student is responsible for any testing fees at that location). Professor will provide a schedule. Log into Sakai as soon as the term begins to access your course: https://dl.seminolestate.edu/portal The online course using ALEKS course management system. Computer & Internet access required. Students not familiar with the ALEKS program will be able to access an online orientation after the course begins, or can meet with instructor on campus by appointment. The ALEKS program can be sampled by going to www.ALEKS.com and utilizing the free trial. You will only need to buy an ALEKS code, which includes an e-book.
