HIM 2721C - Outpatient Coding and Electronic Physician Office
This course is designed to provide a detailed approach to accurately using the physician's current procedural terminology (CPT) for proper coding in an outpatient setting. Students will continue to apply the skills acquired in HIM 2722 ICD-10-CM. Emphasis is placed on practical simulation of computer-assisted activities which are common to the daily routine of the electronic medical office. The practice management system and electronic health record is used as a typical example of computer programs that are available for efficient practice operations. Strong emphasis will be placed on regulatory compliance and auditing. Lab fee required.
Prerequisites: HIM 2211C and HIM 2722C and HIM 2724 with a grade of "C" or higher.
Corequisite: HIM 2940.
