Jordan F. Camenker, Professor

Jordan F. Camenker began working as an adjunct professor at Seminole State College in 2000 and joined the faculty as a full-time professor of legal studies in 2007. He is well-known among students for his energy, enthusiasm and off-the-wall humor, as well as his frequent cups of coffee.

Before he began his tenure at Seminole State, Camenker lectured widely on a broad array of topics and has given a few commencement addresses. Whatever the subject, he is dedicated to making the learning process interesting, which he believes is half the battle.

Camenker attended the University of Florida in 1978, where he earned a B.A. in political science. During his undergraduate studies, he received various honors, including membership in Omicron Delta Kappa, Savant UF and Florida Blue Key. Camenker served as president of Phi Kappa Tau, the Order of Omega and the Interfraternity Council's Division IV, and was recognized as the Outstanding Graduating Male Leader by the UF Alumni Association upon his graduation.

After taking some time to travel, work and save, Camenker returned to UF's College of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctorate in 1983, and served as a constitutional law tutor, student adviser, member of the Council of Ten, and senior editor of the Florida Law Review. He was later awarded a teaching fellowship for service as a legal research and writing instructor at the College of Law.

After graduation, Camenker worked in private practice for 15 years, during which time he assumed positions of leadership on various bar committees.

In 1997, Camenker acquired an interest in a high-technology firm and made the transition into e-commerce and consulting, at which time he also made a return to his former role as an educator.
