A.A.S. Degree Automotive Technology

Technician Automotive Career Training-Import

Technician Automotive Career Training (TACT)-Import is a two-year import track leading to an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Automotive Technology. TACT-Import is designed to enhance the technical competence and professional level of technicians entering the workforce. A new era of automotive technology demands a new generation of automotive technicians. Experience with the latest servicing and diagnostic procedures along with training on the current equipment used in the industry enables TACT-Import students to meet these demands.

TACT - Technician Automotive Career TrainingSeminole State has offered the TACT-Import track since 1986. The curriculum is designed in cooperation with local industry (factory dealerships and independent shops) and in accordance with Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) standards. Advanced and professional courses provide necessary skills in mathematics, reasoning and communication. In addition to coursework, students will participate in a cooperative work program that provides hands-on training.

TACT-Import Features

  • Alternating schedules: classroom, lab and on-the-car experience followed by cooperative on-the-job training at a participating car repair facility
  • Training by instructors who are ASE-certified master technicians
  • Curriculum includes hybrid and alternative-fuel training

    TACT Students

To participate in Seminole State's TACT-Import track, students must be academically qualified and have a dealership or independent garage employer. If needed, students can receive assistance in locating an employer. It is this cooperative effort between the College and industry that will provide the needed on-campus training and work experience.
