Did you know...Seminole State is one of just two colleges in Florida to offer the Ford-ASSET program.
Ford-Automotive Student Service Educational Training (ASSET)
The Ford-Automotive Student Service Educational Training (ASSET) track is a partnership between the Ford Motor Co., Ford and Lincoln dealers and Seminole State College that leads to an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Automotive Technology. A two-year cooperative program, Ford-ASSET is designed to develop entry-level service technicians for Ford and Lincoln dealerships.
Students alternate between classroom/lab courses on campus and part-time work experience in local dealerships. Laboratory activities are designed around the newest Ford vehicles and emphasize proper diagnostic and repair procedures. Advanced and professional courses provide necessary skills in mathematics, reasoning and communication.
The Ford Motor Co. selected Seminole State as a Ford-ASSET training site in 1988. Ford-ASSET is widely recognized as one of the top automotive technician training programs in the nation. Graduates have begun lucrative careers providing a high level of service competency and efficiency to Ford and Lincoln dealerships.
Seminole State has won national recognition for the quality of its automotive programs. In 1998, The Ford-ASSET at Seminole State was named the top manufacturer-affiliated postsecondary automotive program in the nation by the Automotive Industry Planning Council (AIPC).
Students who wish to participate in Seminole State's Ford-ASSET Program must be academically qualified and have a Ford dealership sponsor. If needed, students can receive assistance in locating an employer. It is the cooperative effort between the College and dealership that provides students with on-campus and on-the-job training.
