GM-ASEP: Expected Responsibilities of Participants Seminole Community College: - Provide on-campus instruction in accordance with the approved ASEP curriculum.
- Provide a classroom, shop and instructor.
- Provide generic equipment and tools.
- Provide academic advisement.
- Assist dealership coordinators in planning experiences at the sponsoring dealership. Instructors are assigned to dealership follow-up during the co-op portion of program.
- Screen applicants and assist dealers with student selection for the program.
- Maintain all student records.
- Furnish program information when requested and provide and Associate Degree in Automotive Technology to graduates.
- Promote, advertise and recruit qualified student candidates.
- Serve on the ASEP Advisory Committee.
Students: - Maintain sponsorship with a GM dealership.
- Maintain academic standards and adhere to academic policies.
- Participate in all learning activities at the scheduled times.
- Provide sponsoring dealer with responsible and productive employment.
- Be responsible for program costs (tuition, fees, books and tools).
General Motors Dealers: - Indicate interest in being a sponsoring dealer, so the dealer's name can be made available to interested students.
- Interview and select prospective students on dealer/student interview day.
- Provide dealership-coordinated work experiences to supplement the trainee's most recent instruction in accordance with the program schedule for the duration of the curriculum.
- Appoint an in-dealership coordinator to help develop trainees to full productivity level and to work with the GM-ASEP coordinator/ instructor.
- Pay trainees during periods of dealership-coordinated work experience.
- Provide the new student employee with uniforms in a manner consistent with other dealership employees.General Motors Corporation:
- Provide GM training to ASEP Instructors.
- Furnish the ASEP Program with GM vehicles and components.
- Provide the college with essential training materials.
- Oversee and participate in the student selection procedure.
- Oversee and participate in the coordinator/instructor selection procedure.
- Monitor all phases of ASEP to ensure success.
