Head Softball Coach Courtney Miller

Assistant Softball Coach Katie Field The 2010 season marks Courtney Miller's 16th year as head coach of the Raider fastpitch softball program. During her tenure, she has built a nationally recognized program that has compiled a 559-354-2 record and qualified for the FCCAA/Region VIII State Tournament for nine straight years.

Last season, Miller's team finished fourth in the state, 17th in nation and second in Mid-Florida Conference.

After celebrating her 600th career victory in March, Miller begins the 2010 season with an overall coaching record of 627-413-2. She established Seminole State's fastpitch team in 1995 and has produced 113 All-Conference, 26 All-State and 15 All-American athletes for the College.

Her teams also excel in the classroom, with 113 players earning Academic All-Conference honors, 60 earning Academic All-State honors, and 44 earning Academic All-American honors. Her 2008-09 squad's academic performance ranked tied for 23rd on the National Junior College Athletic Association's (NJCAA) Softball Academic Team of the Year list, with an overall team GPA of 3.24.

Miller is the Mid-Florida Conference chair for softball and a member of the Florida Softball Committee. She previously chaired the NJCAA Division I All-American and Coaching Staff of the Year Committee for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

Before joining the Raiders, Miller served as head softball coach at St. Cloud University in St. Cloud, Minn., for three years. She guided the Huskies to the 1992 NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament and Top 10 ranking in the final NCAA Division II softball poll. Miller is a native of Jasper, Mo., and a graduate of Southwest Missouri State University, where she played softball for two seasons.

Miller is well versed in community college athletic program administration, having earned her A.A. degree from Crowder Junior College in Neosho, Mo., where she played basketball and softball. The softball team finished second and fourth in the nation, respectively, during the two years she was there.

In addition to her role as head coach, Miller is a full-time professor, teaching courses in wellness, health and college success. She also serves as the athletic academic adviser for all student-athletes at Seminole State.
