Theatre Scholarships

Each year, up to 20 full and partial performance and technical theatre scholarships are awarded to students who:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the Smokey Joe's CafeTheatre Program;
  • Show potential for learning and growth; and
  • Have financial need.

Scholarship awards are based on auditions/interviews. Acting students are required to perform auditions consisting of one monologue and an interview with the theatre faculty. Students seeking technical theatre scholarships are encouraged to submit a portfolio of their past work during their interview.

Scholarships consist of tuition waivers. Students on scholarship must maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 in their theatre classes and an overall GPA of 2.0 or better.

Some students may also be eligible for aid through the Support-An-Actor Fund, subsidized through the generosity of our community of theatre patrons. These funds are used to help deserving students pay for those occasional expenses and emergencies that cannot be funded through other avenues.
