Altamonte Springs Campus Center for Healthcare Professionals
Seminole State is exploring innovative solutions to the local nursing shortage with its Altamonte Springs Campus, which houses the Ann Wiggins Moore Center for Nursing & Healthcare Professionals.
The center, located on the fourth floor of the campus, includes healthcare labs that are designed to duplicate a real hospital, down to the waiting rooms and nurses' stations. The labs use the latest technology, including high-tech patient simulators that can be programmed to react to hundreds of ailments to help students safely learn decision-making skills.
With the confidence and financial support of the region's medical community, including several local hospitals, the campus is addressing the severe nursing shortage, allowing Seminole State to triple the size of its nursing program in just four years.

Lee P. Moore, a former Seminole State trustee and longtime benefactor, donated $500,000 to help fund the healthcare programs at the campus as a lasting memorial to his wife, Ann Wiggins Moore.
This was the first private contribution toward the Altamonte Springs Campus.
In addition, Central Florida Regional Hospital, Florida Hospital Altamonte and Orlando Regional South Seminole Hospital donated $250,000 each to help Seminole State purchase state-of-the-art equipment and hire more nursing faculty. With a state match, the impact of the initial gifts is $2.4 million.
"These contributions allowed the College to provide the best faculty, curriculum and facilities to our students so they can make an instant impact in the work force," said Seminole State President Dr. E. Ann McGee.
The Altamonte Springs Campus has 16 special purpose laboratories, each with state-of-the-art media teaching stations, including classrooms that use cutting-edge audio/visual technology with computer and wireless Internet connectivity.
The campus houses all Seminole State Healthcare Programs, including nursing, physical therapy assistant, respiratory care and health information management.
