Training for Enhanced Language Learning Skills (TELLS)Florida Department of Education Adult Education and Family LiteracyOverview of Grant ProjectThese lesson plans have been developed as part of the Florida Department of Education Adult Education and Family Literacy English Literacy and Civics Education grant. The project is designed to help ESOL students become one of their own "best teachers" and to ensure their success inside and outside the classroom. Learning outside of the classroom will become more prevalent among ESOL students through student accountability, and will allow students to increase their potential for success by enhancing their language independence. Lesson FocusThe purpose of these lessons is to provide a structured activity that encourages students to use English outside the classroom and that involves them in the community. TELLS participants will receive training focused on one or two of the Family Literacy Services Strategies — interactive literacy activities between parents and their children and/or parent literacy training that leads to economic self-sufficiency.
