Presidential Report December 17, 2002Thank You Special thanks to Dr. English, Ms. Schaffner, Mr. Miller and Ms. Verdell Pugh for attending the graduation ceremonies on December 12th and 13th. Thanks to Dr. English for attending the Seminole County Legislative Delegation Hearing today. In a few minutes, I will show you the same powerpoint that we used with the legislative delegation. Representative Simmons, who is the chair for Education Appropriations, made the comment at the end of our presentation that he was dedicated to making sure that we improved from our 10th largest and 27th in funding category. It is going to be a tough year for the legislature given the budget deficit. I would like for Jim Henningsen to make a few comments on the facility survey visit that we have just experienced. Through Jim's comments you will learn that we are sitting in a very good place in terms of support for Tallahassee for PECO dollars given our phenomenal growth. Trustee Workshop There will be a Legislative Workshop for Trustees January 22-23 in Tallahassee. More information will be provided as it becomes available. However, as soon as possible, please confirm your attendance with Linda. ACCT Committee Appointments Dr. English and Ms. Verdell Pugh have been appointed by ACCT to serve on the Finance and Diversity Committees, respectively. They will be attending their first committee meeting on February 7, in Washington, DC, held in conjunction with the national ACCT Legislative Summit. HAPPY HOLIDAYS! |
