Budget Forums Next Week
Next week, Executive Vice President Joe Sarnovsky will be hosting a series of Budget Forums on each campus to discuss the development of the 2013-2014 Operating Budget for the College. Each session will include a presentation followed by a question/answer period. All employees are invited to attend one of the following sessions:
2013 Hurricane Season
With the beginning of the 2013 hurricane season upon us, all Seminole State faculty and staff are urged to sign up for emergency text messaging for weather-related bulletins from our College. In the event of weather emergencies/closures due to tropical weather, you will be notified by an emergency text message from Seminole State via "Alert Seminole," Seminole County's official instant messaging alert system. Here's how to sign up:
Sanford/Lake Mary Campus
Because the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus property is adjacent to the Seminole County Courthouse, some TV news helicopters may be flying over the Campus during class hours because of the George Zimmerman trial scheduled to take place during the next several weeks. Traffic patterns along 17-92 in front of the Courthouse may also be impacted. The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office has created a Web site with more traffic information at http://www.seminolesheriff.org/trial/. Also, with the large number of media expected to attend the trial, it is possible that news reporters may come to the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus looking for local reaction. Please remember that Seminole State has an experienced media relations staff to work with the media regarding inquiries such as these. Please refer any media inquiries or approaches directly to Jay Davis, director of communications and media relations, at 407.708.2418 (office) or 954.449.5376 (cell).
Foundation Offices Moving In July
In July, the Foundation for Seminole State College will be moving its offices from the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus to the second floor of the Heathrow Campus. This move will enable community donors and the Foundation’s many external constituents to have easier access to parking, to the Foundation offices, and to Foundation employees. This move is also part of an ongoing effort to structure the Foundation to better serve the College and the community, as the Foundation begins preparations to launch into a comprehensive fundraising campaign. Foundation staff members are working with various College departments to create a plan for a smooth transition for all Foundation functions, including check requests and cash/fund deposits. Please look for announcements about this plan as July approaches. In the meantime, If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Foundation at firstname.lastname@example.org.
