We are closely monitoring enrollment for Fall and will again offer Saturday hours on Aug. 17 to assist students in advance of the start of the Fall Term on Aug. 26. Hours of student services operation on Saturday, Aug. 17, at all sites will be from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. to assist students with registration and preparation for the upcoming term. Additional services that day will include: Business Office, Bookstore, Library (at Sanford/Lake Mary only), HelpDesk extended hours, and ID Card Services (at all sites except Altamonte Springs).
2013 Career Service Awards
Once again, full-time Career Service employees have the opportunity to receive a $1,250 award for excellence, courtesy of the Seminole State Foundation. The annual Career Service Award will be presented in a surprise announcement during the Collegewide Convocation on Sept. 17, 2013. Details of this year’s awards process and a nomination form are attached. In order to help you better determine which employees are eligible for consideration this year, please look over the attached document listing all eligible full-time Career Service employees with a length of service of at least five years as of July 1, 2013. Please feel free to nominate any eligible Career Service employee whom you would like to recognize for his or her exemplary job performance. By taking this opportunity to provide comments about your top candidate(s), you will greatly aid the Foundation’s Board Committee in acknowledging the many ways our Career Service staff have distinguished themselves.
Note: Recommendations for the 2013 Career Service Excellence Awards must be made no later than 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22.
2013 Pathfinder Award Nominations
Nominations are now being accepted for our College's 2013 Pathfinder Awards. A $2,000 Pathfinder Award is given annually to recognize one Seminole State employee, and a $2,000 Pathfinder Award is given annually to one Seminole State department. The individual Pathfinder recipient will receive a $2,000 cash award to spend as he or she pleases. Any full-time faculty/staff member employed for at least three years may be nominated for this award. The $2,000 presented to the department receiving the Pathfinder Award may be spent on department equipment or a department activity based upon parameters to be determined by the Seminole State Foundation, which is providing the funds for this award. Tobacco Free College Begins August 26
To promote the health and wellness of the College community, Seminole State will become a tobacco-free college effective Aug. 26, 2013. The use of tobacco of any kind and in any form will be prohibited on all College-owned and/or operated facilities. This includes tobacco use in personal vehicles while on College property.
Point The Way Volunteers Needed
Employees are invited and encouraged to help new students during the first several day of Fall classes by volunteering for Point the Way at the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus. Volunteers will be needed to staff tables on Monday, Aug. 26, and Tuesday, Aug. 27, from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in one-hour intervals. To sign up, log in to the Sign Me Up Calendar, then choose “August” and “Point the Way” on the drop-down menus. You can choose any one of three locations on the campus based upon your schedule and availability. Thank you in advance for meeting and greeting new students and giving them helpful information as they begin their semester at Seminole State College.
