First Wednesday Update: June 6, 2012Budget ForumsAnother series of Budget Forums for faculty and staff will be conducted next week, after the Board of Trustees’ Budget Workshop next Monday. Each Forum will consist of a presentation followed by a Q&A opportunity for open discussion about the budget framework guiding the development of the 2012-13 operating budget for Seminole State. 2012 Hurricane SeasonWith the beginning of the 2012 hurricane season upon us, all Seminole State faculty and staff are urged to sign up for emergency text messaging for weather-related bulletins from our College. In the event of weather emergencies or closures due to tropical weather, you will be notified by an emergency text message from Seminole State via "Alert Seminole," Seminole County's official instant messaging alert system. Here's how to sign up:
Campus Safety Training SessionsIn order to foster safety awareness and emergency preparedness, the College has created a Campus Emergency Training session for employees to attend at some point during the next 12 months. Each training session will include an instructional video presented by the Center for Personal Protection and Safety. Participants will interact with a resource panel including local law enforcement and Seminole State representatives from these areas: Safety and Security, Student Judicial, Emergency Response Team, Human Resources, Legal and others. All full-time and regular part-time employees will be required to attend one of these sessions between June 2012 and June 2013. The session schedule and more details about each session’s contents have been sent to all employees from our Human Resources department. College Advisory Council RecapOn May 22, the College Advisory Council (CAC) met for the monthly exchange of information and ideas between the Executive Team and leaders from the Faculty Senate, the CSEC, the PEC, the SGA and other areas of the College. Opinion Sought for Wellness CenterSeminole State is developing plans to convert Building H on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus into a Wellness Center. You can voice your opinion on what you’d like in the Wellness Center by completing the Wellness Center Survey before Thursday, June 14. You will need to enter your MySeminoleState log in and password to take the survey. |
