2012 Hurricane Season

With the beginning of the 2012 hurricane season upon us, all Seminole State faculty and staff are urged to sign up for emergency text messaging for weather-related bulletins from our College. In the event of weather emergencies or closures due to tropical weather, you will be notified by an emergency text message from Seminole State via "Alert Seminole," Seminole County's official instant messaging alert system.  Here's how to sign up:

  1. Go to https://www.alertseminole.org.
  2. Click the “Click Here to Register” button.
  3. Complete the requested information, including how you wish to be notified (select a phone for text messaging) and what you wish to be notified about (weather and/or other emergencies).
  4. Be sure to select Seminole State College as the group (near the bottom of the page).
  5. Click “Continue” to select additional options or to complete the enrollment process.

Campus Safety Training Sessions

In order to foster safety awareness and emergency preparedness, the College has created a Campus Emergency Training session for employees to attend at some point during the next 12 months. Each training session will include an instructional video presented by the Center for Personal Protection and Safety. Participants will interact with a resource panel including local law enforcement and Seminole State representatives from these areas: Safety and Security, Student Judicial, Emergency Response Team, Human Resources, Legal and others. All full-time and regular part-time employees will be required to attend one of these sessions between June 2012 and June 2013. The session schedule and more details about each session’s contents have been sent to all employees from our Human Resources department.
