First Wednesday Update: March 2, 2011Spring BreakThe College will be officially closed for Spring Break from Sunday, March 6, through Saturday, March 12. Many thanks to the Seminole State constituents who will be working throughout Spring Break to accomplish activities scheduled to occur during the College's "down time." If you will be off all week, please be sure to turn off all computers and office equipment before departing for Spring Break, in order to hold down utility costs during the College's closure. We hope everyone has a safe and healthy Spring Break. PeopleSoft Upgrade March 3-13While the College is closed over Spring Break, a number of Seminole State employees will be working to implement a major upgrade to our PeopleSoft infrastructure. In order to upgrade the system, PeopleSoft functions will not be available from 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, through Sunday evening, March 13. If you have any questions, please contact the Help Desk at extension 2000. Oviedo Campus 10th Anniversary CelebrationAll College employees are invited to attend festivities in celebration of our Oviedo Campus's 10th anniversary on Friday, March 18. A morning event for City of Oviedo/Seminole County/community constituents will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. in the Courtyard beneath the Clock Tower. Then, at 2 p.m., a more informal celebration will be held on the campus, with all current — and many former — employees invited to come share some fellowship, refreshments and memories of the past 10 years. If your schedule permits, all faculty and staff members are invited to stop by the morning and/or afternoon events to celebrate this milestone in Seminole State College's history. "Kaleidoscope Engagements" (Formerly Diversity Month)This year, a new array of activities, seminars and discussion panels will be available to all Seminole State students and employees as part of "Kaleidoscope Engagements" — formerly known as Diversity Month. Please look for more information coming soon from the Department of Diversity Initiatives and Engagement about each of the following events, which are scheduled to begin after Spring Break:
Student Survey PreparationSeminole State's Institutional Research Department will be administering the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) to our students from March 28 through April 15. Approximately 70 randomly-selected classes will be involved in the survey, each for approximately one hour. Instructors whose classes are selected for the survey administration are being contacted with specific information from the Institutional Research office. The survey results should help us better understand the practices and experiences that promote student success at Seminole State College. Non-Instructional Employee AppraisalsThe 2010 non-instructional employee performance appraisal cycle is under way and the online appraisal system in TIM is now available for every non-instructional employee who worked at the College during 2010. Please see the attached e-mail from our HR Department with deadline dates and comprehensive information on the entire process. Please note that the appraisal system will not be available to employees from March 3-13, due to the PeopleSoft system upgrade. If you have any questions, please contact Bill Fowler at extension 2053 or fowlerb@seminolestate.edu. |
