2011 Updates

First Wednesday Update: June 1, 2011

FRS Contribution Changes

The 2011 Florida Legislature passed Senate Bill 2100, thereby making substantive changes to the Florida Retirement System (FRS) that will impact former, current and future Seminole State employees. For the most complete information regarding these changes, please visit and bookmark the FRS website http://myfrs.com/portal/server.pt/community/myfrs/257/2011 Retirement Legislation. There, you can find the following information:

  • 2011 Legislation Summary: A user-friendly recap of the legislation's key points
  • Legislation FAQs: Frequently Asked Questions that cover many different topics for different individuals
  • Take-home Pay Calculator: Shows employees how the 3 percent mandatory employee contribution will impact their actual take-home pay

Everyone is encouraged to visit the FRS website, since it will be constantly updated as additional changes occur or as new information becomes available.

New AVP of Human Resources

After a national search, Mae Kline has accepted the position of Associate Vice President - Human Resources for Seminole State College. For the past seven years, Mae has been managing the human resources functions for the 1,800 employees of the YMCA of Central Florida — which serves six Central Florida counties via 27 facilities. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Human Resources Management from Rollins College and earned her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from Penn State University. Please welcome Mae in her new role when she begins on June 13, 2011.
