See for yourself how this entire floor has been transformed into attractive, state-of-the-art classrooms and learning/gathering places. Light refreshments will be available.

Career Service Awards for 2011

Once again, two of Seminole State's full-time Career Service employees will receive $1,250 awards for excellence, courtesy of the Foundation for Seminole State. These two awards will be presented in a surprise announcement during the Collegewide Convocation on Sept. 27, 2011. Attached are the nomination form and instructions on how to nominate a Career Service employee for this year's awards. Employees may nominate themselves or another employee. Completed application packages must be submitted to the Foundation Office in room A-204J on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus no later than 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011. Applications will be reviewed by a Career Service Review Committee of the Career Service Employees Council (CSEC), and the final selection will be made by members of the Foundation Board of Directors.

Pathfinder Award Nominations

Nominations are now being accepted for our College's 2011 Pathfinder Awards. A $2,000 Pathfinder Award is given annually to recognize one Seminole State employee, and a $2,000 Pathfinder Award is given annually to one Seminole State department that has demonstrated exemplary service to our College over the last year or so. The individual Pathfinder recipient will receive a $2,000 cash award to spend as he or she pleases. Any full-time faculty/staff member employed more than one year may be nominated for this award. The $2,000 awarded to the department receiving the Pathfinder Award may be spent on department equipment or a department activity based upon parameters to be determined by the Foundation for Seminole State, which is providing the funds for this award. To nominate an individual or a department for a Pathfinder Award, please submit the name of the individual or department, together with the reasons for the nomination (in less than 500 words), to Yolanda Williams via email by Friday, Sept. 9, 2011. The 2011 Pathfinder Awards Selection Committee will then meet to select the individual and department to be honored in a surprise announcement during the Collegewide Convocation celebration on Sept. 27.

Share Your Accomplishments

During the Collegewide Convocation on Sept. 27, a printed program will be distributed containing a section called "Applause! Applause!" This section recognizes employees for their accomplishments and successes over the past year or so. All Seminole State employees, including part-time staff and adjunct instructors, are invited to contribute their accomplishments. To submit your accomplishment(s) for this year's edition, please complete the online form and submit your information by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24. Please note: Your submission may be edited for length.

Computer Migration To Microsoft

As the College continues to migrate its systems from a Novell-based infrastructure to a 100 percent Microsoft (MS) environment, please be aware that every computer owned by the College will be affected by the following changes:

  • All faculty and staff computers (excluding Mac OS systems) and associated user accounts have been switched to the Microsoft (MS) domain and will be joined to the Microsoft Active Directory before Aug. 8.
  • Contact your supervisor if you do not know when/where to bring your laptop for migration.  Supervisors: Please contact the HelpDesk if you have not received an e-mail with available dates/times for laptop migration.
  • Your network files/folders/drives are being moved from Novell to the Active Directory. Your network mappings will begin reflecting the new Active Directory locations at some point between Friday, Aug. 12, at 5 p.m. and Monday, Aug. 15, at 6 a.m. Please note: CTS expects that a small percentage of drive mappings will not be identified and moved during this process. If you notice that any of your drives are unavailable on/after Aug. 15, please contact the HelpDesk for help re-mapping missing drives.
  • The System Center Configuration Manager client is being installed on all computers. Also known as SCCM, this computer management tool will enable CTS to more efficiently support your computer and provide you with a stable and secure computing environment. SCCM client installation should be completed by Aug. 31.
