First Wednesday Update: April 6, 2011Spring Graduation CeremoniesThis year's calendar calls for graduation ceremonies to take place at the end of April on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus. The annual Adult High School and GED graduations will be combined and held Thursday, April 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Gymnasium. The following evening, on Friday, April 29, college-credit graduation will be held at 8 p.m. in the Gymnasium. Because our number of college-credit graduates continues to grow, future ceremonies for Seminole State's college-credit graduates will be split into two events, beginning with the graduation scheduled for Friday, December 9, 2011. Foundation Mini-Grants - Spring AwardsAll full-time College faculty and staff are invited to apply for the annual Mini-Grant Program of the Foundation for Seminole State College. The maximum award for an individual grant is $2,000. Grants are awarded by a committee composed of members of the Presidents' Club Advisory Council and Board of Directors of the Foundation. The deadline for grant submission is 4 p.m. on Friday, May 6. Attached is the information to apply for a Spring 2011 Mini-Grant award. Note: The application form has changed. April "Kaleidoscope Engagements"This spring's new array of activities, seminars and discussion panels available to all Seminole State students and employees as part of "Kaleidoscope Engagements" — formerly known as Diversity Month — continue on into April. Sanford/Lake Mary Testing Hours ExtendedIn response to faculty requests for additional testing hours, the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus Assessment and Testing Center will begin offering extended hours starting the week of April 18. In addition to the current hours of operation, testing services also will be available on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings until 8 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Testing hours are posted online at http://www.seminolestate.edu/testing/hours.htm. ADVANCE 2016 UpdateThank you to the hundreds of Seminole State employees who participated in the ADVANCE 2016 Strategic Plan input sessions in the weeks leading up to Spring Break. Our ADVANCE 2016 facilitators gathered ratings and suggestions from nearly 300 participants during interactive meetings on every campus. Refinements to the Strategic Plan are now under way, based upon your feedback. Please look for a revised draft later this month, along with another opportunity for additional comments before final review of this very important plan for Seminole State College.
