Nov. 2 Election Results

Yesterday's elections resulted in many decisions impacting Seminole County, Fla., and our nation. Attached is a comprehensive recap of the results — compiled by Don Payton, Seminole State's director of governmental relations.

Endowed Teaching Chair Nominations

All faculty and staff members are invited and encouraged to nominate any full-time faculty member for one of four prestigious Endowed Teaching Chair Awards, which will be officially bestowed during the Spring 2011 graduation ceremony. You may nominate as many faculty members as you choose, and you are encouraged to again nominate faculty you might have nominated in past years. Please take a few minutes to complete the short nomination form and submit it electronically. Nominations are due by the end of the day Friday, Nov. 5. All full-time teaching faculty, counselors and librarians are eligible for the award.

Foundation Mini-Grants

All full-time College faculty and staff are invited to apply for the annual Mini-Grant Program of the Foundation for Seminole State College. Again this year, the Foundation will award $20,000 worth of mini-grants in the fall and $20,000 in the spring. The maximum award for an individual grant is $2,000. Grants are awarded by a committee composed of members of the Presidents' Club Advisory Council of the Foundation. The deadline for grant submission is 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12. Building L Furniture Available For Employees To Purchase

Some of the furniture, desks and bookcases from the 2nd and 3rd floors of building L will be offered for auction to Seminole State employees on Saturday, Nov. 20, from 8-9 a.m. The general public will also be able to participate. Buyers will be responsible for loading and transporting their purchases, which can be picked up on Saturday, Nov. 20, until 4 p.m., and Monday, Nov. 22, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The auction will be handled by the same company that facilitated the disposition of furniture from the former I and K buildings several years ago. Thanksgiving Break

The College will be closed for Thanksgiving Break beginning Wednesday, Nov. 24, through Sunday, Nov. 28. Please be sure to turn off all computers and office equipment before departing for Thanksgiving in order to hold down utility costs during the College's closure. We hope everyone has a safe, enjoyable Thanksgiving Break.
