First Wednesday Update: February 3, 2010New College LogoLast week our Board of Trustees' approval of a new logo for Seminole State College became final, so two-color and one-color versions of this logo will soon be appearing, beginning today with the Seminole State website and eventually extending to a wide variety of internal and external materials. Beginning Feb. 17, replacement requests for exhausted supplies of College stationery, business cards and note pads can be made through TIM. New options for employee name tags are still in development and should be available by March. Also, beginning Feb. 17, new artwork of the logo will be made available for use in one-line, two-line and three-line versions -- in both two-color and black and white. The intent is to have these logo versions available electronically, along with specific usage guidelines. Additional requests for the new logo versions after Feb. 17 may be directed to the College Relations & Marketing Department at extension 2378 or via e-mail at osbergc@seminolestate.edu. Budget Open ForumsAs a follow-up to last year's Budget Open Forums, Dr. McGee and Joe Sarnovsky will again hold a series of Open Forums on every Seminole State campus this month. Tentative dates for these meetings are Thursday, Feb. 18, and Friday, Feb. 19. Room locations are being reserved and a final schedule will be announced next week. Please plan to attend one of these sessions in order to learn first-hand the latest news about our College and 2010-11 funding for Seminole State and our entire Florida College System. "Service Excellence" SessionsFor more than a year now, the Student Success Services division has been implementing our "Service Excellence" process designed to improve the quality of service to Seminole State students and staff. And it has been quite successful, resulting in increased student satisfaction as measured in recent student surveys and increased recognition of staff. In the fall of 2008, a cross-functional team of College constituents developed our Service Philosophy of "We change lives by empowering, inspiring and educating our students and the community" to kick off the process. In addition, the team developed four service standards to model excellence in service: responsive, courteous, competent and collaborative. These standards are also threaded throughout non-instructional employee appraisals.
SPD Funding for Special RequestsThe Staff and Program Development (SPD) Committee has set aside $15,000 for Seminole State employees to use for funding of special projects that can take place during the remainder of this 2009-10 fiscal year. Employees may receive up to $1,500 per project. If you are interested in submitting such a project request to the SPD Committee, please review and utilize the attached materials. The deadline for proposals is noon on Monday, Feb. 22, 2010. Submit the original request, along with 10 copies, to Susan Montgomery, Business Office at Heathrow, Room 118, on or before noon on Monday, Feb. 22, 2010. By Friday, March 5, the committee will notify everyone who submits a project whether or not their project was approved. |
