2009 Updates

First Wednesday Update: October 7, 2009

Name Change

With our College's name change still fresh in the news, here is a reminder about decisions relating to the transition from "SCC" to "Seminole State College of Florida" ...

  • Our College will no longer be identified by initials. We will be known as Seminole State College of Florida, Seminole State College, or simply Seminole State.
  • Abbreviations like SSC / SSCF / SSCOF are not to be used.
  • We are going to phase into using the new name on materials throughout the College - not implement it all at once. Therefore, existing supplies and materials bearing the SCC name / logo should be used until depleted.
  • We will not have a new logo until late November. Materials should not be reprinted until we have the new logo. This includes business cards, stationery, name tags, forms, etc. If you run into an unusual circumstance or demand, then please look to your division leader or VP for direction.

Foundation Mini-Grants

All full-time College faculty and staff are invited to apply for the annual Mini-Grant Program of the SCC Foundation. Again this year, the Foundation will award $20,000 worth of mini-grants in the fall and $20,000 in the spring. The maximum award for an individual grant is $2,000. Grants are awarded by a committee composed of members of the Presidents' Club Advisory Council of the Foundation. Deadline for grant submission is 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13th. Attached is the information to apply for this year's mini-grants. For additional information, please contact the Foundation at 407-708-2382.

Center For Public Safety Dedication

All Seminole State College employees are invited to attend the Dedication Ceremony for our new "Center For Public Safety" on the Sanford / Lake Mary Campus ... on Friday morning, Oct. 30, 2009. The ceremony will be held from 10 - 11 a.m. on the east side of the building, followed by tours of this facility that now houses the training for Central Florida's first responders. If your schedule permits, please stop by and celebrate this important new Center that has transformed the previous K and I Buildings into the singular new PS Building.
