2009 Updates

First Wednesday Update: March 4, 2009

Spring Break

The College will be closed for Spring Break from Mon. March 16 through Saturday, March 21. PeopleSoft applications will not be available, starting from Friday March 13, at 6 p.m., until Sunday, March 22, at 6 p.m. This includes all applications that rely on PeopleSoft for access, including the TIM System, the online appraisal system and the online catalog. All other network applications, including the SCC website and GroupWise e-mail will be available. Power-down all computers and office equipment before departing for Spring Break, to hold down utility costs during the College's closure. We hope everyone has a safe and healthy Spring Break.

New Parking Coming to Sanford/Lake Mary

On the Monday after Spring Break, March 23, a new temporary parking lot with an additional 225 parking spaces designated for faculty and staff will open on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus. This new lot will be near the SCC-UCF University Partnership Center, overlooking the retention pond. This lot, which is accessible from Weldon Boulevard, is intended for use during daylight hours only, although some temporary lighting will be installed. This lot will be most convenient for members of the faculty and staff who work in Buildings A, J and L. Temporary walkways along the construction area will lead from the new lot to Student Success Services in the A Building. As a result of making these additional spaces available, the enforcement of fire lane and other no-parking areas in all other faculty/staff-designated parking lots will be enforced to increase safety.

By June, another 1,400 permanent parking spaces will be added on the north side of the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus near the CFADA Professional Automotive Training Center and Campus Lane. SCC's facilities staff is working to designate parking in each of the new lots to better serve the needs of faculty and staff. Please read the SCConnection or visit the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus' home page for the latest construction updates.

SCC Leadership Academy's "Get Engaged with SCC" Project

Two opportunities remain to interact with your fellow SCC coworkers, as part of the SCC Leadership Academy's creative new program for SCC employees, "Get Engaged."  These gettogethers for SCC employees from across the College are sponsored and facilitated by Leadership Academy members. Click here to review a recent SCC Today article for details on the remaining two gatherings at our Altamonte Springs Campus, on March 6, and our Oviedo Campus, on March 12.
