First Wednesday Update: July 2, 2008College Closed Thursday, July 3With the Fourth of July falling on a Friday this year, SCC will observe the holiday on Thursday, July 3, with all offices and sites closed for the day. Have a safe and happy Fourth of July weekend. Employee MySCC AccountsNow that direct deposit statements will no longer be printed and distributed through Campus mail, every SCC employee should have a MySCC account set-up to view their pay statements and leave balances online. All SCC managers should ensure that members of their teams have a MySCC account in place. Also, all employees hired after July 1 must have their supervisor request a MySCC account via the TIM system. For any MySCC or computer-related questions or concerns, contact the Helpdesk at ext. 2000. Remodeling of K and I BuildingsA construction fence has been erected around the perimeter of the K and I Buildings on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus, as work gets under way to remodel these buildings and join them with a connecting facility. Demolition of the building interiors has already begun, and the project remains on schedule to be completed in time for Fall 2009 classes. Construction Begins on SCC-UCF University Partnership CenterThe major transformation of the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus has begun in earnest, with the launch of construction on the new SCC-UCF Partnership Center site. Last week, the visitor/faculty/staff parking lot next to the A Building closed permanently, and a construction fence was placed around the perimeter of the entire project. A portion of Lot 3 - south of the A Building - has been reassigned for temporary visitor and faculty/staff parking. The Facilities Department is in the process of working with a consultant to identify additional temporary parking for the entire Sanford/Lake Mary Campus in advance of the Fall Term. It is expected that three temporary lots will be allocated to provide more than 450 additional spaces, which will replace what has recently been lost due to the Partnership Center and K/I Building construction projects. Note: Throughout the month of July, the Partnership Center site will be cleared, and during the week of July 21, equipment will be used that will cause vibrations that may shake adjacent buildings. The construction crews will try to confine most of the vibration work to Friday and Saturday. SCC’s "328" Telephone Exchange Has ExpiredAfter three years, the former "328" exchange for SCC phone numbers has been retired. The current "708" exchange is now the only one supported by the College and the phone company. Employees should ensure that all business cards, letterheads and contact information contain the "708" exchange.
