Altamonte Springs Campus

Our Altamonte Springs Campus students, faculty and staff continue to settle in as we enter our second month of operations. We are also working with the City of Altamonte Springs and our adjacent neighbors to develop a long-term plan to create more parking spaces - which continue to be in great demand. Also, our newest Campus has created quite a "buzz" around our region, receiving lots of TV and print coverage of our programs and our new high-rise, high-tech facility. If you weren't able to make the dedication ceremony, please check out this video recap featuring Governor Crist, our local leaders, and our students, faculty, and staff.

PeopleSoft Student Administration/HR System Upgrade

The next generation of our PeopleSoft system will "go live" during SCC's Spring Break next month. This upgrade is on schedule and will improve the functionality and capabilities of MySCC applications. SCC constituents in Payroll/Time & Labor and Human Resources, as well as many in the Student Success Services and Educational Programs divisions are scheduled for job specific training sessions from Feb. 11-28 - please look for specific e-mails regarding your respective training instructions.

In preparation for the Spring Break upgrade, all MySCC PeopleSoft functions and the TIM system will be unavailable Friday, March 7 through Sunday, March 16. GroupWise, Angel and the SCC website will not be affected during this upgrade.

2007 Appraisals

It is time for non-instructional 2007 appraisals to be completed by all SCC supervisors. Per SCC Procedure 2.1501, please complete the non-instructional appraisal form. Meetings with employees to discuss their 2007 appraisals should be completed by Monday, March 3. Supervisors are also asked to attend one of the Performance Appraisal Information Sessions going on now through Monday, Feb. 12. These sessions are designed to provide information regarding future updates to the performance appraisal and process that will affect objectives and planning for this year. These sessions are listed in SCC Today and are designed to provide you with planning tools to help you as a supervisor.

Weldon Blvd. Relocation on Sanford/Lake Mary Campus

Because of delays in the construction process, the relocation of Weldon Blvd. that was scheduled to begin in February has been rescheduled for later this spring. A new construction timetable is in the process of being developed. Please look for this revised timetable in next month's "First Wednesday" message.

The Florida Community College System 2008-09 Budget

The 2008-09 budget for the Florida Community College System (FCCS) has not yet been fully developed or presented. Although the Governor has just announced his 2008-09 budget, much remains to be worked out once the Florida Legislature convenes in early March. SCC's Executive Team has begun very preliminary discussions about SCC's 2008-09 budget, but we are also awaiting the beginning of the 2008 Florida Legislative session to better inform us about the impact that Florida's cooling economy and mandates out of Tallahassee may have upon SCC's 2008-09 budget.
